Beginner level

Designed to learn basic communication skills. (JLPT – N4 Level)

At the beginner level, you will use our textbook, designed here at Sendagaya, called “Communication Japanese (1, 2, and 3)” and, with the goal of learning basic communication skills, study the following subjects:

  • Grammar

    You will study basic Japanese grammar so that you will be able to read and write.
    By the time you finish beginner level, you will have gained the strength necessary to pass the JLPT – N4.

  • Vocabulary

    You will study words necessary for everyday life. Also, you will begin to study words necessary for advancing to higher level education.

  • Kanji (Chinese Characters)

    ・・・

    Kanji (Chinese Characters) … Students originating from Kanji-ken areas (areas where Chinese Characters are used in education e.g. Taiwan, China) and non- Kanji-ken areas will be placed in separate classes.
    In the Kanji-ken class, you will study the difference between Japanese and Chinese characters, as well and Japanese’s Chinese Characters usage.
    In the non-Kanji-ken class, you will increase your Kanji vocabulary by breaking down characters structure and radicals. By the end of the beginner level, you will know the reading and writing of 336 characters.

  • Conversation

    Using the grammar and vocabulary you learned in class, you will gain the ability to host everyday conversation.

  • Writing

    ・・・

    Self-Introduction, your hometown, things you have experienced in Japan; you will learn how to write about things close to your everyday life.

  • Listening

    You will be able to understand conversation taken place in everyday shopping.

  • Reading

    ・・・

    You will be able to read about everyday experiences.
